EAN and barcode refusals - Spartoo (Shopify)

Spartoo expects an EAN on variants when you send barcodes. If the code is wrong, Spartoo refuses the line. The refusal appears under Reports (View Report), often with text about the EAN (for example that it is too short or ends with 000).

Where EANs come from

Feed.biz uses each variant’s barcode from Shopify as the EAN, when Send EAN codes is on.

Settings > General Settings > Send EAN codes

  • On (default): barcodes that look valid (8 or 13 digits with a correct check digit) are sent.
  • Off: products are sent without an EAN. Use this when Spartoo keeps refusing your barcodes.

Empty barcodes, wrong length, or a bad check digit are not sent as EAN even when the setting is on.

What to do when Spartoo refuses an EAN

  1. Open the product run in Reports → View Report and read Spartoo’s message.
  2. In Shopify, fix the variant barcode if you have a real EAN.
  3. Or, under General Settings, turn Send EAN codes off, Save, then send products again.

See General Settings.

Check after the fix

Run Send products to Spartoo (or export from Products). In Reports, the line should move to success, or show a different error if something else is wrong (category, size, and so on).
