Permission issues, write access

The module shows an error saying it cannot create / write a file or folder, for example:

Unable to create the directory (…/modules/cdiscount/export/…)

or

Directory is not writeable - "…/modules/cdiscount/export"

or

Unable to write to the XML file / Unable to open output file for writing

(Current module strings, often in English.)

This is usually a write-permission issue on the module data folders.

Check write access to the export directory via FTP (e.g. FileZilla):

1. Connect to the server and open modules/cdiscount:

2. Edit the attributes of the export folder (right-click):

3. Grant the required write permissions:

Apply this only on data folders (export, and generated subfolders if needed), not on folders that contain PHP files. Some hosts require specific permissions there.
