Why am I getting “SSL certificate problem: certificate has expired” during order import?

You may sometimes see an error message in your logs or during a manual import that mentions:

“SSL certificate problem: certificate has expired”

This message indicates that the secure connection between your server and the marketplace API cannot be established.

What does this mean?

This error occurs when the security protocols used by the module to establish a secure connection encounter outdated validation parameters. In most cases, it is due to an older module structure failing to match current marketplace security and connection requirements.

Is this a known issue?

This error is common in older versions of the module, specifically versions released before 5.4.11.

Impact on the module

When this error occurs:

  • order imports (manual or scheduled) will fail completely
  • stock and product synchronizations will be blocked
  • the module cannot connect securely to the marketplace API endpoints

How to resolve the issue?

To resolve this issue, the module must be updated to its latest version, which contains the necessary security and compatibility fixes.

Please follow these steps:

  • Contact our technical support team
  • Explain the issue you are experiencing
  • Request the latest version of the module to update your system
