# Understanding the Difference Between Offers and Products (Cdiscount)

## Simple example

You are looking at a store window: a T-shirt catches your eye.
What you see in the window is the **product** (the sheet: description, images, features).

You enter the store: that T-shirt exists in several sizes and colors, sometimes at different prices.
Those are the **offers**.

On a marketplace, the principle is the same:
- the **product sheet** is shared (Cdiscount / Octopia catalog);
- each seller publishes their own **offer** (price, stock, shipping, condition).

## Definitions

**Product (catalog sheet)**
- Title, descriptions, images, features, marketplace category
- Usually identified by an **EAN / GTIN**
- Created via the module in **Catalog > Cdiscount > Creation / Product Integration**

**Offer (seller listing)**
- Seller reference (**SKU** = PrestaShop Reference)
- Price, stock, condition (new / used)
- Shipping fees / delivery modes, preparation time
- Updated via **Catalog > Cdiscount > Offers / Offer Integration**

## Matching

If the product already exists on Cdiscount (known EAN), you can publish only an **offer** linked to that product: this is **matching**.

If the product does not exist yet, you must first **create the product sheet**, then send the offer.
Otherwise you typically get: “Unknown reference / you must create your product”.

## In PrestaShop

PrestaShop does not separate “product” and “offer”: everything is a product sheet (with optional combinations).
The module turns these sheets into:
- **product** data for Octopia (creation), and/or
- **offer** data (price / stock / shipping).
