# Error: You cannot change the ‘item_classification’ for SKU ‘XXX-YYY’ by submitting a feed with a new value - Amazon Marketplace Plus

You are trying to send your products using product feed (creation), but you get an error in the report like this:

||| Message: 1 Error 8603: SKU: XXX-YYY - You cannot change the 'item_classification' for SKU 'XXX-YYY' by submitting a feed with a new value. To change this attribute, do the following: 1) Submit a feed to delete the existing SKU. 2) Submit a feed to recreate the SKU with the updated 'item_classification'.

---

## Cause

This error means that you are trying to change the **Product Type** for a SKU that already exists on Amazon.

On Amazon, the **Product Type** is a permanent attribute. Once it's associated with a SKU (based on the EAN/UPC), it **cannot be changed** later.

You can find this setting in the module, in the profile configuration:

![PrestaShop Amazon Marketplace Product Type](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/3/f/a/8/3fa8ee645cd13200/screenshot1755_1543h3r.jpg)

---

## Case 1: Exclusive Product

You are the only seller of this product (no one else has listed it before you).

→ You probably already exported the product with a different **Product Type**.

To change the type:

1. Delete the SKU from Amazon
2. Wait 24 hours
3. Resend the product with the correct type

Note: Sometimes the old data still persists, and only Amazon support can clear it.

---

## Case 2: Shared Product

The product already exists on Amazon (listed by others).

→ You **cannot change the Product Type**.

### What to do:

* Either **match** the existing product type used on Amazon in your profile
* Or switch to **Offer Sync Mode** instead of Product Creation

In Offer Sync mode, if you check **Extended Data**, all available fields (set in the module) will still be sent to Amazon.
