# Clearly differentiate between an offer and a product - Feed.biz

To understand how marketplaces work, imagine looking at a T-shirt in a shop window. What you see there is a **product**. Once you step inside the store and see that exact T-shirt available in various sizes, colors, and prices, you are looking at the **offers**.

Marketplaces process these two data sets separately to keep their systems organized:

**An offer** represents the commercial data tied to selling the item. It includes transaction-specific details like the reference number (SKU), stock quantity, price, and item condition (such as new or used).

**A product** represents the core identity of the item itself. It consists of permanent informational data like the title, description, images, and technical features.

On Feed.biz, distinguishing between the two is essential for managing your catalog. If a product page already exists on the marketplace, you do not need to create a new one. Instead, you simply link your offer to the existing product—a process known as "matching." This assigns your offer to the existing product.
